Negative Ions

Everyone knows to have a happy life one must stay away from negativity. This thought process has many confused about the fascination with negative ions. However, there have been numerous studies on the health benefits of negative ions.

Researchers have found that breathing in these ions can be energizing and even act as an anti-depressant. One can find negative ions occurring in abundance near waterfalls, trees, and other running water areas.

Negative IonsScientists have found that exposure to negative ions could increase a person’s serotonin levels. It is also believed they can help with mental health, relief from allergies, and productivity. A person can feel the effects of negative ions during the summertime by enjoying the sunlight.

A person can also find negative ions after heavy rain or in their showers. According to Pierce J. Howard, Ph.D., negative ions can “increase the flow of oxygen to the brain.” This possibly “may protect against germs in the air.”

There are some scientists studying if negative ions can alleviate symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). A study in the American Psychology Association suggests negative ions may be a helpful treatment for SAD.

Many people feel positive ions can contribute to feeling anxiety, tension, irritability, asthma, migraines, depression, and an overall lack of energy. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to avoid positive ions.

Positive ions can be found in anything with electromagnetic capabilities. These items include smartphones, laptops, fluorescent lighting, air pollution, fluctuation of weather, and other electronic devices.

These ions seem to have positive effects on humans. So why not see if they can help make life a bit healthier.
